The Freestyle mode differs in each game, but usually leaves the player free to build a zoo from scratch however they see it. The Challenge mode is the same but with limited funds. New items are unlocked as the scenario progresses. We spent roughly 12 hours with the game before starting this review. The Scenario mode puts players in control of a preset scenario in which they have to accomplish multiple objectives within a time period. We received a review copy of Zoo Tycoon from Microsoft. Arguably this is little more than a marketing stunt, but it's still a welcome move on Microsoft's part.Zoo Tycoon is a zoo simulator series where you take charge of a zoo business, build the park, care for animals and attract visitors. From the developers of Planet Coaster and Zoo Tycoon comes the ultimate zoo sim. Once the animals in your zoo reach a certain level, they can be released into the wild beyond the material in-game awards and Xbox achievements, the company has pledged to donate $10,000 to charity every time players release 1,000 animals of a certain species. There's not much in the way of wider commentary on keeping animals in captivity, although it is at least refreshing to see Microsoft use Zoo Tycoon to raise awareness of global conservation efforts. It has taken someone like me, who isn’t a fan of Tycoon games into its world and I can confidently say that I’ve been converted. My son loves it so much that he stops whatever he is doing as soon as he sees it load up on the TV.
If you stick to the top-down view you won't appreciate the more subtle animations or the accurately captures roars, trumpets and neighs of your collection. Zoo Tycoon is a fun filled and often charming game for the whole family.

The game runs at a native 1080p and has a distinctive art style, with each animal having detailed facial expressions and convincing behaviour. The furrier animals might look convincing up close, but overall Zoo Tycoon does little to truly push the Xbox One's new hardware. Zoo Tycoon isn't exactly stretching the Xbox One's limits, but fur looks reasonably convincing in motion
