The software screens uploaded scholarly research documents against a database of more than 40 million published articles, webpages and other scholarly content to check for possible failures to properly cite text from other sources. It is advantageous for authors to be able to review their work using the same tools. Editors and funding proposal reviewers are increasingly using iThenticate to view and move submitted documents through the peer-review or referee process to publication and funding. Using iThenticate, authors can ensure that they have appropriately cited their sources and presented the highest quality written work. Faculty, post-docs, and graduate students should use iThenticate as part of their pre-submission processes when completing grant applications and texts for scholarly publication. Ithenticate license#
The iThenticate user license agreement prevents iThenticate from having access to or use of technology, ideas or proprietary data contained in the submitted documents. Documents uploaded through UCF user accounts cannot be accessed by iThenticate company personnel.

iThenticate is not a repository database. IThenticate is easy to use with quick results. Researchers gain advantage in grant submission by screening proposals before they are screened by the funding agency. IThenticate provides a mitigation tool that protects the reputation of UCF research and reduces risk of costly and public published misconduct. IThenticate is an online plagiarism detection software tool that compares documents (including among others, proposals, manuscripts, dissertations and thesis, journals, etc.) against a database of web pages and content items including published works.
